1. simply incorrect
Oren   (09.11.00)
Shalom. In response to Geva Kra-Oz’s article: “Democratic” Pennsylvania and Vermont do not have a seashore, while “Republican” Virginia and Texas do. Which is to say, that your attempt to re-define the traditional south-north division according to a new sea-inland partition is interesting, yet somewhat simplistic. This is especially the case when you define the Great Lakes states as more democratic. I’m not sure that holds. Also your analysis ignores the great divisions within the big states, such as in the case of California: a liberal north vs. a conservative south, both of them by the sea. Finally, your assertion that Hispanic voters tend to support Democratic candidates is simply incorrect, at least in the last few years. Oren
2. Another producted of the Gale-Zahal--Mekomonim type
Ilan   (09.11.00)
Another example for an Israeli shiester who pretends to understand American politics. Another Israel who can barely speak English properly but knows American history and American constitution! Another Israeli Hafifnic who has never had the need to attend a college of journalism and mass communication. Another producted of the Gale-Zahal--Mekomonim type porno-jounalist who knows almost everything about anything. another Israeli who learned everything is Kurss Makim!
3. IT WAS CITY VERSUS COUNTRY
Gideon ,   USA   (10.11.00)
Although Al Gore won the East Coast and the West Coast, the vote had very little to do with land and water. First of all, states like Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are hardly waterfront states. The vote had more to do with big cities, minorities, the unions, and traditional white liberals who live in those big cities. States like New York, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have the largest cities in the USA. These are cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Detroit. These places have the highest concentration of minorities, such as Blacks, Jews and Hispanics. They also have a lot of traditional white liberals. These people usually vote Democrat, so there's hardly any no surprise there. Regarding the resentment across the country towards big government: the Republican idea is that government should be small, with less taxes, less government programs, and more personal responsibility. By the way, if you look at the vote by County, not buy State, it seems that almost 90% of the counties in the USA voted for Bush, so it was actually CITY VERSUS COUNTRY, or, if you want, BIG CITIES AGAINST SUBURBS AND RURAL AREAS.

5. Response to Ilan
Marvin   (10.11.00)
Ilan, your response reveals your ignorance and your bevaior is, using your own terms, as "Israeli" as it gets (and that is NOT a compliment). Geva is AMERICAN. He was born in Georgia. He is also a univsity graduate, where he majored in literature and philosophy. Finally, the last thing you could say about him is that he thinks everything is "Course Makim" -- there is nothing militant about his opinions, thus your assertion is ridiculous, and I fail to see what it is based on. Before you post, make sure you know what you're talking about.
