As Israel has been seeking for several years the opening of Russia and China, and other nations, more tourists from those nations to Israel, and as tourism is important job/revenue creation, then why has Israel waited so very long to create conditions facilitating faster hotel construction foreign ownership of hotel business in Israel ?

People who bash the government just for the sake of bashing the government are just plain annoying. Let the market fix itself.

In 2007, 41 million Chinese travelled abroad and 85% of those only went as far as South East Asia. The majority visited Hong Kong. Less than 2 million visited Europe. The rate of growth is averaging 12% over the last 10 years but 2008 has been a very slow year and will be either same or lower than 2007, mainly due to the Sichuan earthquake and the Olympics. Israel needs a very good and clear marketing campaign for China first and a rational pricing strategy. It would also help to have regional cooperation as Chinese prefer to visit several countries at the same time. ChinaContact is a market entry specialist for China's tourism industry and is holding a China tourism forum at World Travel Market in London.

It's a good way to let Israeli understand China better, understand Chinese better. But I am quite sure majority of Chinese will think Israel is like a countryside of China, shabby, lazy and greedy.

with the looming crisis regarding oil, air travel and tourism are endangered industries. It might not be so wise to build hotels while the US market ( a large part of Chinese success) is melting down
