Nannette, you hit the nail on the head! If this lynching by the media doesn't work than let's pray for Katsav that he doesn't suddenly become gravely ill or have a stroke!

32. This is all very symbolic
The symbolism here is palpable. Mr. Olmert is calling on President Katsav to resign for allegedly raping a young woman but it is Mr. Olmert who has rapped and is rapping the Jewish people "the virgin daughter of Zion," he and his fellow Kadimists. Ironic, isn't it that he is calling on an alleged rapist to resign?

34. katsav
i find this whole issue confusing, he's saying he's being framed and the prime minister was killed... this is the president of Israel... I guess he know's more than what he should and who knows he's being pushed and it would be very odd if he ended up with a stroke or found dead.... we never seem to hear anymore about the late prime minister's condition do we... Oh well is guess lives aren't important anymore ... we are all numbers ....

35. Katsav
He speaks like an innocent man. His anger is consistent with being falsely accused. There appears to be motivation to smear him. This is a bad thing for democracy, as Katsav says.

39. Innocent until PROVEN guilty
The media campaign against Katsav is absolutely disgusting -- indeed, no man is above the law, as the media has so eagerly been pointing out. What they seem to forget is EVERY man is innocent until proven guilty, and that applies to Moshe Katsav as well. It is the media, not Katsav, that has disgraced the nation of Israel.

42. he was telling the truth
Despite all the dreadful accusations that have been made by so many people over the last 6 months, all that time something just didn't ring true. Last night, even although he lost control and spoke in an "unpresidential way", Katsav was telling the truth. How scary is that? Is this, as he pleaded,a mega conspiracy theory?

46. Innocent? Unknown but guilty cant be there was no trail,
I believe that every man has a right to defend his honor, and yes i really truly think that as the accused he has a case to prove, has anyone in the israeli media ever played devils advocate, well as an proud israeli and an american i say, let him argue his case and only hope for his sake that justice will truly be served. the media needs to back off dont assume becasue peoples live are at stake, and what the media has done to him and his family is wrong has any other offical in the israeli history ever been harsed as he has? i think not! the worst part is everyday a new scandel arises so why him? why this case? why not Olmert who is so full of himself he himself is being investigated for corruntion? People, hello wake up this is suppose to be a democrecy. And as i've learned it needs to be beyond a reasonable doubt yet all this time and all they got is stories, otherwise the matter would of been resolved no? Stop take astep back and remember the slogan of jounalist in the early 1900's, "supply me the pictures, i supply the war" dont judge until you've got all the facts! and show some reespect what happened to us, we want to be like everyone but know that we are like no one. no scandel has ever made any public offical say it like it is, and we attach the first one who has. who are we? answer: what the media told us to be biast on all accounts. so please just stop and have faith the truth will provail, i do! 47. Olmert says Katzav to resign
All you readers and those who answer in "talkback" should realise
that the President has no powers
whatsoever and therefore he cannot
bring any disaster to this country.
However, Olmert himself, with Peretz, Peres, Livni and the generals, they certainly can bring disaster to this country especially as they are talking again about clearing the West Bank. Therefore I say let
those people resign immediately because most of them have "dirty" hands, whilst the President has no
need to resign until he is found
guilty. Let Justice be done and seen to be done without prior prejudice.
