2. Our unquestionable rights on the Land of Israel.
Though we have modern political rights dating back to the First World War, Jewish youth in Israel are not taught them: "After World War I, the borders and countries that today make up the Middle East were created - Iran, Iraq, Syria, etc. Modern Israel was created the same way! The countries of the world charged Britain [in the San Remo Resolution of 1920, based on the League of Nations and Balfour Declaration] with creating a 'national homeland' for the Jewish People, based on the 'historical rights' of the Jews, and calling for Jewish immigration and settlement here. Only a quarter of the land, including Hevron and Shechem, originally designated for the Jews by the League of Nations, was left for us - but all this is not known by our Jewish youth! The historical and political truth about rights and legitimity can be read in its 5 parts at : http://xrl.us/bi5c6

6. Pointless
I suggest that Jewish leaders read the Koran as a history document. You speak of the Arabs as if they've got the same philosophy as the rest of humanity. Just as "moderate" is a relative word when mentioning Palestinians, resolution is a relative word. The resolution, and final expectation for Islam is dominion over all peoples and nations. The word Islam means submission. There should be no further talks of peace. Peace is something the Koran justifies only until they are powerful enough to take what they want by force. Submit or die. I suggest pouring your efforts into energy and resource independence (as should every non-Muslim country) and creating some amazing defensive shield to make their attacks futile. You waste air talking to Muslims about peace.

the author might be correct inregards to the four reasons he listed. what is surprising however, is that the soluotion he proposed is less likely to work. what makes you think that egypt and jordan will give land for the palestinians? and if they did, i'm sure the palestinians will reject it. my soluotion: one state for both people.

8. Everything is for sale at the right price
You just got to negotiate how much.
A little behind the scenes between Israel, US, Egypt & jordan.
Some cash and extra weapons designed for defending the new borders all financed by the international commity who are so desperate to create this state.
Decide what they would be willing to give & how much they want.
Take Israel out the picture completly arab states with plenty of land to spare help other arabs get an arab state for a price as it should be.
Egypt & Jordan benefit from much needed international investment in their economy.

9. a third Intifada
Eiland ends his article with the fear of a third Intifada. However, he seems to be ignoring that a third Intifada has already started. In fact the 2nd intifada never really dies out, but the Gazan missiles are part of it. It could be named the Annapolis war, since peace talks with the palestinians lead to wars not peace. But the kassams have been flying for seven years now. Otherwise , Genreal Eiland is quite observant in his article.

10. After 15 years, it's clear that "land for peace" has failed
It's increasingly obvious that the Oslo process has failed because it was based on false assumptions. I admit I long thought a demilitarized Palestinian state on some of the land captured in '67 was a reasonable aspiration. But I was wrong.
There's simply no clean boundary available between these two peoples. Virtually all the Jewish sacred sites are found within the West Bank, as it was the ancient Jewish homeland. The Palestinians have demonstrated they don't respect, and won't protect, non-Islamic sites. A Palestinian state west of the Jordan will not be viable; having a successful Israel within walking distance will prove too great a temptation. And a divided Jerusalem will prove unlivable for Jews.
There's a lot to like in Benny Elon's alternative Israeli Initiative. Sooner or later, the PA will need to be dissolved, and all militants expelled. The rest take on Jordanian citizenship, but the land must remain under Israeli sovereignty. Let the Palestinians be satisfied with Transjordan and Gaza.

11. Well, well. Jordan IS "Palestinian" home
There was never any other option, other than the original option.
The Arabs that have claimed to be Palestinians are naturally subjects of Jordan. The reasonable transfer of nationality, if not actual physical presence is the correct and doable solution of a mess made by the political bunglinging of some callow and not overly bright socialists who cocntrolled if not "led" Israel.

13. israel Initiative
"So what should we do? We should reshuffle the cards and try to think about other solutions as well. One of them is a return to the Jordanian option. The Jordanians won’t admit this publicly, yet a Palestinian state in the West Bank is the worst solution for them. They too know that within a short period of time such state would be ruled by Hamas. The moment Jordan – which features a Palestinian majority as well as powerful Muslim Brotherhood opposition – will share a border with a Hamas state, the Hashemite regime will face immediate danger.
Other options are regional solutions whereby both Egypt and Jordan will contribute territory to the Palestinian state. As opposed to common perceptions as if this has no chance of materializing, we can prove that the great winners in such arrangement could in fact be Egypt and Jordan."

Rav Benny Elon has been proposing this for a while - transfer is both inevitable and also absolutely necessary for the safety and security of the middle east - for Jordan as well as Israel....

14. #8. Justice
If you think that is a just solution, then let me make a counter-proposal. How about we negotiate for Germany to give you half of her land to create Israel there. Not only will it be historically and morally just, you won't even have to live next to the Arabs you so despise! Plus, the size of you country will increase many-fold. That way, the Middle East will be at peace and the Jews will be left alone! Like you say: everything's for sale at the right price.

18. #10, 8 & 14 - Let's not forget...
#8 & 14 - Let's not forget that the 1948 War of Independence was actually an attempted genocide against the Jews by Arabs. Let's also keep in mind that the 1948 war happened because the British decided to divide the remaining 20% of the Mandate of Palestine (that was allocated to the Jews by the League of Nations in the 1920's) between the Jews and Arabs- after already giving 80% of the Mandate to Arabs and ethnically cleansing it of Jews. 1948 should be looked squarely in the face as an attempted genocide against the Jews in which the Arabs living in Palestine had their "Right of Return" put into effect by their return to Syria, which is where the majority of them emigrated from.
#10 - Benny Elon's plan makes lots of sense as it builds on the "peace" agreement between Israel and Jordan and also effectively sets the League of Nations Mandate into motion. Should the PLO get their hands on the economically impoverished and resource-poor West Bank, it will make easy pickings for Hamas, putting Jordan in the uncomfortable position of being between Iraq and Hamas. Let's also not forget that, if the Jews are "occupying" Palestine, so are the Hashemites- 80% of Palestine to be exact. Jordan will be next on Hamas' list should Israel fall (G-d forbid)...

I'm sorry, but no. The 1948 was NOT an attempted genocide. If the Arabs wanted that, they could have easily done it before Israel was created. The 1948 war was started because Ben-Gurion initiated Plan D (this info is from Israeli military archives), which was meant to dispossess the Arabs of their land to create the Jewish state. The Zionists of the time believed that the Jews could not co-exist peacefully with the Arabs, and as such, for the Jewish state to be successful it needed to be devoid of Arabs. The Arab armies attacked to stop this. They were defeated but succeeded in slowing down the dispossession of Palestinians; hence the concentration of Palestinians in the Galilee (Syrian army efforts), Gaza (Egyptian army efforts) and the West Bank (Jordanian army efforts). 21. rabin, peres, clinton, bush senior caused the problem
Rabin
Peres
Clinton
Bush senior
They are the ones who caused all of the troubles we have today.
So he could get arab states to join the coalition to get Saddam out of Kuwait a condition was Israel was going to have to talk to Arafat with the aim of creating a palestian state.
Peres & Rabin - architects of oslo
Clinton pushed oslo all the time and made it acceptable in Israel.
If we had said from the start Jordan & Egypt are the key here a palestian state in the pre June 1967 borders just isnt practical based on the reality on the ground of what the palestians will want and what will be in Israels power to give.
Egypt & Jordan have never been short of land, neither of them actually like or care about the palestian cause but both of them wants something done because the palestians destabilise things in their countries.
If we had said from day 1 how much is it going to cost us to buy some land from you which will be used to create this palestian state.
If we could have made an effort to get the ideology of a state to replace Israel out of palestian mentality it would have saved the international community a fortune, and saved alot of lives.
The palestians could have their state and shut up complaining and get on with developing what they have a state within practical and workable borders.
They need people to look to for inspiration then it should be the early zionists who gave up their comfortable lives to come and live in tents and drain swamps because they wanted a home for jews.

Now you're talking! Cudos to you. You're actually engaging in a factual discussion without the epithets and the adjectives flowing around.
It's true, either Arabs go from here, or Jews go from here. No other peaceful option exists. To make Jews go from their Homeland of last 3000 years, it'd take a compensation about a million per person, for about 6 million Jews and relatives. Or about 10 trillion euros.
Start putting up some money.

Were you learned that - in your English colleges? Shows you how far the Saudi funding will make one go down the drain.
No, the war WAS declared to be the war of extermination by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha. The locals were urged by the invading armies to relocate for a duration, so that the latter are free to kill everyone they meet.
That's all.
But we're not talking of historic justice and precedent here. By it, the German precedent applies - massive land taken from them, millions repatriated...
No, we're talking practicals here. Either Arabs go, or Jews go. Or there's war, and many MANY will die.

25. #19 - Said, Quote for you...
Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League at a Cairo press conference, May 15, 1948;
"This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre, which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades."
Do I need to provide you any more quotes from YOUR history? 1948 was a failed genocide against Jews, plain and simple. The Casus Belli of the war was the Arab states' entry into the region with genocidal intent.
Had the Arabs never declared war, Plan Dalet would have never had the chance to be implemented. Plan Dalet was DEFENSIVE in nature and established the destruction only of those villages that were being used to massacre Jews.
In 1948, the Arabs waged everything they owned on genocide and lost their shirts in the process. Our right to dwell in this land is the most just and moral cause in history and our ownership of this land has the strongest legal basis of any country that has ever existed.

26. #22 - Judah, And we're not going anywhere...
Either they go or we go, and we Jews who love our land and our country in spite of its flaws are not going anywhere...
If, however, we are going to talk compensation for the small number of us that are willing to sell their birthright, I think we also need to keep Diaspora Jewry in mind as well, after all, it's not only us Olim and Sabras who have a right to be here.
I would also like to be compensated for all my family's belongings that the Syrians stole from us in 1948 when we were ethnically cleansed from Aleppo.
In other words, here are my demands for compensation:
1) 1 Million Euros for each individual living in Israel who qualifies as a Jew under the Law of Return.
2) 500,000 Euros for each individual living outside of Israel who can qualify for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return.
3) 4 Million Euros for my family's belongings that the Syrians stole from us.
4) A Jew-friendly nation within a comfortable enough distance of our Holy Land so we can make pilgrimages from time to time that also contains enough economic infrastructure so our quality of life won't suffer.
5) A written guarantee that, even if all 4 of the above criteria are met, we still don't have to go anywhere or give up anything.
By the way, these aren't a set of talking points to begin negotiations, these are a list of demands that must be met before I even consider accepting compensation. Also, if you fail to accept this list of demands, I will cry and pout and scream until I tell the world media that the aggresive, occupationist Arabs don't want peace.

27. The road to Mecca
As the Arabs all know, the so-called King of Jordan is actually the Sharif of Mecca, where his family held sway for centuries before the Saud family drove them out in the 1920s. Restoration of the Hashemis to their ancestral seat in the Hijaz would free-up Jordan to become a de jure Palestinian state, and would re-legitimatize the defender of the faithful in the essential holy places of Islam.

29. #23 & 25
Plan Dalet was implemented BEFORE the war was started. Its funny how you justify ethnic cleansing in terms of defensive measures. Let's assume that I agree with you on this one - if the Arabs kick all of the Jews out of Israel/Palestine, would you consider it a defensive action on the part of Arabs? Joe, you say "Had the Arabs never declared war". Let me ask you this: Ben-Gurion knew that there would be war if the Jews declared a state of their own - effectivley disposessing the local Arab population. So why did he declare a state on purpose, knowing the consequences? Here's another one: if the UN votes tomorrow to give the Israeli-Arabs 55% of Israel proper to create their state in, what would be your response? What would the IDF do? The most natural response would be to declare war by sending the army in. Why do you find it so strange that Arabs would want to defend their land from European usurpation (and if you're wondering about the Jewish refugees from Arab lands, they didn't arrive untli after the state was declared)?

30. The end of Israel
If you have not seen the video "Relentless, quest for Peace" then find a copy and understand why the current peace (Piece at a time) proposals put Israel's very existance at risk. Even the USA Chiefs of Staff (Thier Military) says that under the Road Map Israel cannot be defended! In other words when the Arab Armies advance to take Israel they will win. We need to help the Arab Palestinians to find a way home to where they came from... the Israel Initative is certainly one way to make this happen. What is the King of Jordan saying? His Father the King knew what to do. He was wise and took the Arab Palestinians into Jordan and gave them what they needed... They did very well and this is something that works and we know it. I hope that the Jordans will again open thier hearts to the Arab Palestinians, Amen!
