Barak: We'll force moral repair in Kadima     Attila Somfalvi
1. What a joke ....
Barak & Labour talking about ethics or morals. Almost as funny as Livni & Kadima talking about "being a light unto the nations." Empty words .....

2. Barak is Mr. Squeeky clean, he will reform Kadima?
Have you completely forgotten the 2000 State Comptroller's Report, which laid out in excruciating detail the scandal of Barak's network of phony amutot (NPO's) – many of which purported to be charities – through which he illegally funneled millions of dollars into his own election campaigns. Barak did the exact same things that Olmert did. Barak even had his own personal Morris Talansky – an English millionaire by the name of Octav Botner. Barak's strategic advisor at the time – Tal Zilberstein – masterminded and oversaw the entire money laundering scheme, and became one of the prime suspects named in the criminal investigation opened against Barak. Zilberstein is a man who certainly gets around: Today, he is Olmert's strategic advisor. None of Barak’s sordid history, of course, has deterred him from pontificating against Olmert today, demanding that Olmert resign or suspend himself. Nor do the media seem to have noticed the incredible irony and hypocrisy in Barak assuming the mantle of Mr. Clean with regard to a matter involving illegal cash transfers and money laundering.

3. Kadim must be dissolved, not repaired!!

4. Barak is as selfish and corrupt as Olmert....What a hypocrit

5. People are losing sight of what's important.
It is true the Barak should not be lecturing Olmert about moral integrity. But that's not important right now. What's important is the push for elections and to replace Olmert. Just because Barak is pushing for elections doesn't mean he has to be elected. Israel should take advantage of this opportunity to change the leadership of the country.
Navi ,   Canada   (05.30.08)
6. Barak will vote on Wednesday against elections
Barak will vote with Olmert's Kadima. Barak=Kadima except for name.
Gerry ,   Boston   (05.30.08)
7. #5, you are right, but.....
they are trying to delay the elections till November! Livni will take over Kadima till then and follow Olmerts plan of betrayal! Barak is trying to drag it out as long as he can, knowing he wont beat Bibi. Alot more damage can be done in 6 months....possibly Iran will have nukes by then......We cant afford to wait till November and take that chance, as Livni is to weak to take any defensive action beforehand.. We need elections immediately!! Kadima is history!

9. Giving Upbeat Speeches
Whenever politicians wax lyrical about the moral repair of the nation they tend to forget where in society politicians really stand. Actually that is on a ballot box ……. In a democracy. That is a box which has to be won by winning the people's confidence. If you preach that people need moral repair you offend a lot of people who would deserve such preaching from a Rabbi. Actually so long as the courts can be trusted to uphold the rule of law and to maintain an open mind with regard to the interpretation of human rights laws (that the State of Israel has ratified in the Kenesset) then the moral well being of the people will always be optimized. Politicians have to legislate for diverse things but in Israel they have to legislate for things no people anywhere have to worry about. Israel's politicians need to promote open government, strengthen the secular nature of the constitution and develop a dialogue in the Middle-East to promote and amplify the concept of peace with Israel. This involves in large part the voice of other nations. Israel does have to hurry because nobody will run for us. This requires a strong human being in the Prime Minister's job. It must be a Prime Minister who is only interested in keeping the Golan. This piece of land is a better asset for Syria while it under Israeli control. There is more than one pistol on the card table. It is not the strongest hand but the coolest hand that will win. To win the peace. Not a compromise with peace. But real genuine peace. To Israel's politicians I say: Let Israeli people live in peace. You go and encourage the Arabs to stop making war. Israeli men and women know the difference between right and wrong, between debit and credit, between wages and tax, between a job and a uniform. They don't need lectures. They need action. But not action that surrenders the Golan. Use your upbeat speeches for the enemy and our allies. Don't beat up on Israelis.
