Deri to appeal moral turpitude clause    Aviad Glickman
1. Hilarious
A convicted felon wants "moral turpitude" clause removed so he can run for mayor. He wants another opportunity to steal. Is this how the truly religious operate?
Ben ,   Monroe, USA   (09.19.08)
2. Deri
Let Deri run! And Olmert be his vice! That's the perfect combination of 2 crooks! Actually I was thinking about Chaim Ramon and Ely Yshay as an option, wouldn't that be great? All of them far from the Knesset?
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (09.19.08)
3. No convicted crook should be allowed in mayoral race.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.19.08)
4. Findings encouraging for WHOM?
Evidently in Israel you can be a criminal, sexual predator or con artist and the political parties love you. It is a uniquely Israeli phenomenon because voters do not get to choose candidates or elect them. We have Hiram Ramon the unrepentant sexual predator; Shimon Peres the co-author of the worst deal in Israeli history, of course Ehud “The Corrupt” Olmert and now one of the Shas Call Girls who has a rap sheet ten miles long wanting to be mayor of our “crapitol”. I can smell the stench all the way here in Nahariya!
Yonatan ,   Nahariya   (09.19.08)
5. mayor
So the criminal Deri now wants to compete with the corrupt Olmert and attempt to by-pass legal rulings of the court. The lieing pollsters are a tool to contnue the falsehood and to use as evidence.Any underhand ,filhty direction to attempt to get his hands on hefty balances of money.Deri will again use corrupt fraud and theft and blame the secular of not understanding,He wants a little of the money for the rich poor that do not work.

6. $ha$ + moral turpitude = oxymoron
Arie ,   BaGolan   (09.19.08)
7. Deri-Olmert
Why should a PM who has not been convicted resign, if a convicted criminal is allowed to run for such an important, sensitive, and public job? NB: I do believe that Olmert should ( have ) resign(ed) long ago, I simply want to make the point that Der'i should not be allowed to return to politics, politics should be cleared of corruption and crime.
David ,   Haifa   (09.19.08)
8. Moral bankruptcy
If any court in Israel were to grant this so-called religious man's appeal to have his record 'cleansed' it would be proof that we are no longer a moral society but one that has become more Sicilianized than I feared. He was found guilty of a crime and imprisoned for it. Just because he's served his term - one that was quite wrongly shortened - doesn't mean his slate can be wiped of his criminal past. That he is even considering standing for public office again suggests he doesn't see himself as guilty of his crime and is in fact still behaving with the moral turpitude with which he was originally charged. G-d help us all if he succeeds in any of his endeavours.
ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (09.19.08)
9. Only In Israel
Which part of "thieving convicted crook" does this moron fail to understand?
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (09.19.08)
10. Better yet, expunge sh-ass and all
the rest of the enemy hara-dim!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.19.08)
11. Deri is a crook and a thief.
A convicted felon should not have the right to run for Mayor of Jerusalem, for G-d's sake! Why would clear thinking Jews want a person like this to represent them? It's madness!
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.19.08)
12. IS THERE ANOTHER JEW, SAY ONE WHO IS WORTHY, TO HOLD OFFICE
FIND HIM/HER. MOSHE
MOSHE ,   US   (09.19.08)
13. Deri-the crooks-the legal experts
""Legal experts"" always find encouraging ways to expunge various crime one way or another. That's where $$ comes in. I suspect that NO Muslim resident of Jerusalem was part of the 950 ""SIGNATURE"" Yes, Ben from Monroe USA. That is the way the" truly religious" operate.

14. Deri reformed criminal ? ?
Deri days as a political animal are over....I hope. Deri should return to his scholarly studies. Perhaps, then, Deri will learn to apply rules of conduct to himself. In the meantime, Deri is just another reformed (? ?) criminal that has served his time in prison. Moshe Israel
Moshe Israel ,   Tivon, Israel   (09.20.08)
