3. Meanwhile, Iran's nuclear program gets closer to its goal
After Livni's buddies squeezed out Mofaz (we even were treated to headlines, including in JPost.com, before the ballot boxes closed assuring us of a Livni blowout, when in fact she won by at most 431 votes), they will now seek to install this lady into the highest office, where she will proceed to dismantle more settlements and give more land to Abbas and Company. Meanwhile, Iran continues to build its weapons of destruction.

4. Peres & Livni cut from the same cloth
I cannot express surprise at the decision of President Peres to charge Livni and Kadima with the task of forming a government. I feel certain that the President is aware that any election now would see Mr Netanyahu and a strong Likud Party returned to office, a situation which I feel sure would be unpalatable to Mr Peres. He should put aside his political opposition to Mr Netanyahu, in the interests of Israel. Until Bibi is returned to office, we are just in for more of the same. A weak state, obsessed with the ceding of our territories to those who would have the jews driven into the sea and the end of the State of Israel. However, let us not be disheartened, G-D has over the past 60 years defended the State from its enemies. He will continue to protect Israel from her enemies, both without and within. Livni and her new government will be a short lived wonder. We will have an early election and the voice of the Israeli people will cry out for stability, the result will be Bibi returned to power and a new powerful chapter be written in the history of Israel.

5. #2 Eric
You believe that Livni has more brains than the other ones based on...what? Her vast accomplishments? Her detailed policy prescriptions? Care to back that up?

6. Zippy the Pinhead.
I say give her a chance, as well. OK. Time is up. This bland and banal apraratchik Chick is as able to form a working governmen for a nation at the deadly serious business of war, i.e., one that is able to function at an at least marginal level of cocmpetency, is as great as the chances of my new Snowshoe kitten's ability to do so. Maybe less. The kitten is at least cute and innocent, not tainted with the "kick the Jews out" agenda of Kadima. Why does Israel have to suffer the shame of having the world think that Jews are so smart, and then proving that the world is so wrong, with the selection of mediocre to sub-standard political so called "leaders"? "Tis a puzzlement".

7. She doesn't care what the people want!
She doesn't care what the people want. According to all polls the majority wants CHANGE. We don't like the way that Kadima & Labor has been running things. We don't believe in giving up any land to the Arabs. Livni won her 431 votes with her large arabs and druzim support. The people are speaking; We want general elections and we want them now!
Dovid ,   Modiin   (09.22.08)
8. Unity government
Let's give her chance to form unity government that will be, hopefully, able to deal with the strategic threats. We don't need now election, and anyway, most of the people who want it won't go to election, so we will will face another kind of weak prime minister.

9. Way to go YNET
I love the flattering photos of Livni that accompany your articles- almost mid - drool. She looks like she's three sheets to the wind. A face to match her unstable policies.

11. Long ago, I asked Admiral Joseph Leon Howard, a former Chief
of the Navy Supply Corps and author of "Our Modern Navy" and considered by many to be the father of the modern US Navy, what was the sadest thing about becoming the top dog of an organization. He said he lost a lot of friends because he was chosen Chief of the Supply Corps. Perhaps people are jealous or think they would have been a better choice. But that is what leaders face when they become Top Dog: it is a lonely place to be in some ways. There was an essay written called "The Lonely Whine of the Top Dog" that Minister Livni should read. You lose friends when you excell them in some way instead of people being happy for you at times. The saddest part about leaving a Top Dog position like Mr. Olmert is doing, is that you find the people you thought were your friends no longer think you exist. That was Admiral Howard's experience, too. The day he stepped down and retired was the day he found out who his read friends were. There were not many.

12. 2 Eric: Livni has said she favors giving up more land for
peace. Little does she know that will lead to Armageddon, but the Prophets Joel, Zephaniah, and Zechariah knew it. With all the failed land for peace treaties with the Palestinians, I would think Israel would want something else to hang their votes on.

18. wnd.com news discussed the election and fraud was
clearly evident to such an extent of uncounted ballots that there should be another election. At one polling station, 490 ballots were destroyed by an attacker. Votes at ten other stations were not included in the voter count. A general election or revote of Kadima should be called.

My darling Irmo, Sharon was FORCED to pull the Jews out of Gaza by other factors than his own preference. I do not think giving up land for peace is in the best interests of the Jews of Israel or the Gentile world since that will lead to Armageddon, the Prophet Joel warned. Dividing God's land which may be Jerusalem or the territory God gave to Abraham leads to Armageddon. In that regard, giving up land for peace has dreadful consequences. But the Messiah will come after things prophesied in the Bible have come to pass. Because the leaders of Israel have been coerced into giving up land for peace, there have been terrible judgments on the nations that coerced those leaders. So the Lord is going to deal with the Palestinians (called Philistines in the Bible) on the coasts and kill them all according to Zephaniah the Prophet. You say I defend Sharon and I do try to justify what he did because it cannot be changed and I love him. Was he wrong? In some ways he was wrong just as Barak, Netanyahu, and Peres were wrong. They were between a rock and a hardplace with the international pressures on them. I try to prevent giving more land for peace because it does not work. It is true, I do not try to justify others who gave away land for peace because I am not personally involved with them. I defend someone I love the same way Moses defended the Hebrew people to the Lord, when the Lord was about to destroy them for idol worshipping. Sharon was wrong in some ways in giving up land, but the Lord will avenge Sharon for being coerced into doing that. The vengeance of the Lord will be terrible. But for me to turn on Sharon even when he was wrong, is to turn on myself. Can't anyone understand the grief that caused him to give up Gaza? It is true, I condemn others for giving up land for peace because I do not love them. I defend Sharon because to do anything else would tear out my heart and I cannot see his actions as clearly as I can see others I condemn. I have suffered so much in my friendship with Sharon with people attacking me and hating me for my concern for him. But to the Lord, that is glory and reward for me eternally because God loves Sharon. The ELS codes say, "HASHEM LOVES A(riel) SHARON." God loved King David, too, but He turned away from David when he sinned as Sharon did in giving up Gaza. I want Sharon to be restored in his fellowship with the Lord who loves him but who has turned His back to him for a brief moment in not protecting Sharon from would-be assassins who gave him a wrong medication for his condition to cause an iatrogenic stroke. I cannot explain why I defend Sharon and not others who did the same thing who learned the terrible lessons of giving up land for peace with Palestinians. Or did they? I don't know since Livni is in the camp of those who would give up land for peace. You saw the name Admiral Howard and became angry and I felt you anger. He was a scoundrel; but like Sharon, he also did much good. When the city of San Diego was in the red, retired Admiral Howard volunteered to overhaul the city's supply and ordering system and he brought the city OUT OF DEBT. He did not get paid and he is not a rich man unless the woman he married after he was widowed had a lot of money. So, in some ways, Sharon is a scoundrel as are Netanyahu, Barak, and Peres. But there is also much that is good in them. The people expelled from Gaza should be compensated. Perhaps that is the great failing of Sharon and is what caused him to be hated. Doesn't make you want to be PM, does it?

20. 17...
I answered your question in quite a lot of detail, but YNET has not printed it yet. So I will have to write to Sheba with the answer if the post does not show up shortly. It is quite simple. What has been done in Gaza cannot be changed and I love Sharon because he loves me; so I try to defend him while I do not defend others who have made the same mistake in giving up land for peace. I just hope those who have done that and are still in power have learned not to do that again. The people of Gaza who were pulled out should be compensated. That was a great failure of Sharon. By the way, Irmo, I love you and your brother, too. God set it in my heart and who am I to change what God has done?
