Palestinian artists boycott Toronto film festival    Associated Press
1. Nothing like Palesinian spin!
And, of course, any film festival that showcased the Palestinians should be applauded, right? Wrong. The Palestinians are perpetrators of war crimes and should themselves be kicked out of the UN. "Whether or not attacks actually result in civilian casualties, they are in violation of international law, which also prohibits attacks aimed at spreading terror among the civilian population. The patterns of attacks and statements by members and leaders of Palestinian groups also indicate that they have no qualms about launching attacks against civilians and that they in fact carry out such attacks intending to kill and injure Israeli civilians. Such attacks constitute war crimes." Amnesty International report, July 2, 2009 Why should anybody listen to war criminals who call for a boycott of their enemy?

2. Palis have a lot of time on their hands.
with a basket case economy managed by mobsters, what can you do other than vent their frustrations out at successful Israel? Losers by nature are jealous people.
Mongo ,   Paris   (09.10.09)
3. Wow...you couldn't get past the checkpoints.
Go figure that one out?
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (09.10.09)
4. Boycott already defeated
I understand that all the tickets for the Tel Aviv films that were available online have been sold. Let's all celebrate Tel Aviv!
La Cumparsita ,   London UK   (09.10.09)
5. A bunch of hasbeens and nobodies
Who cares? Notice how they didn't just decide to not attend. Instead they held press conferences and announced to anyone who cares, and especially to those who don't care, that they will not be attending. What's it like to be irrelevant?
Alex ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.10.09)
6. Paliwood is angry? Terrorist "artists" are no welcome!

7. Ripe Time For Some To Bark ?
I suspect this whole western pro-palestinian campaign is methodically pre-arranged and organized. For some Hollywood actors and actresses,as much as for other Yankees - most notably the late Rachel Corrie - to voice support for, and show sympathy with the Palestinians, seems the apex of absurd irony ! I read the biography of Malcolm X in early 1979 while I was attending university in the USA (written by the late Alex Haley, author of " Roots " ) and discovered that he,Malcolm X,knew very well how Israel was created in 1948 and what the aftermath was, that is the emergence of the palestinian refugee problem ! Also, in the sixties Italian actress Sofia Loren took part in a movie about the 1948 Israeli-Arab war ( the film was banned in all arab countries because it reflected support for Jews ).But the point is that those celebreties must have been well aware of the roots of the Arab-Israeli conflict for decades but had kept their mouths shut ! Now it seems the green light has been flashed for them to bark ... ! This seems a disgrace, rather than honor, for Palestinians !

8. Has anyone seen the names list?
Quiet a lot of 'Israeli artists" are signed on this list, but I suppose nobody in the left media wants to publicize it.
M   (09.10.09)
9. Ah yes, the left who oppose peace and promote racism
Let them boycott. They boycott peace and promote racism. Make sure we reciprocate with any movies they make. Dont watch any movies by these left wing loonies.
David ,   Boston, USA   (09.10.09)
10. #7 - I suspect that most do not know the origins of the war
Namely, racist massacres of Jews at the hands of Arabs in the 1920s based solely on supremacy ideology (Jews are 2nd-class citizens) and boasted rumors. Then the continuing instigation by Arab leaders and the continued propagation of the refugee problem through the UN. I agree - no one who claims to help the Pals is really doing so out of honor for the Pals, except maybe the Israelis, though that sounds ironic. But truth be told, the Israelis want peace more with the Pals than those of Pro-Pal groups want to see peace in the region. Until you dismiss these groups, no one will see any peace, because they care neither about you or I, but about themselves only,.

11. The old Nazis killed us. The new Nazis nag us. We won.
Yaniv ,   Israel   (09.10.09)
12. The Organizers should thank the protesters!
Nothing like free publicity and hell they got a lot of it! Nothing like a controversy to drum up interest in a film festival! I ran the festival sold out of tickets very quickly and looks to be a huge financial success! Ironic isn't it? The protester should be entitled to some commission for there hard promotional work!
GHook93 ,   Chicago   (09.10.09)
13. May the Canadian Jews shout Shalit, Shaliit, Shalit at every
protester. Let the world know that terrorist pigs are responsible for kidnapping Shalit and ask if Canadians approve of kidnapping.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.10.09)
14. "pal artists....???"
can not think of a better recommendation to see those israeli films than hanoi hanna, who posed with the antiaircraft gun of the vietcong, while tens of thousands of young americans were dieing there. jeanie old girl, why not posing in a suicide vest front of a picture of jewish children blown to pieces on the busses in jerusalem? love you too.....:)
les ,   canada   (09.10.09)
15. No such thing as "palestinian"! they are a made up people by
those who seek the destruction of Israel!
send arab invaders ,   back to arania   (09.10.09)
16. "Arab hospitality"
Tel-Aviv was built on sand dunes after the Jews of Jaffa were attacked by Arabs under the slogan "itbah al-jahud" (slaughter the Jews). During the past 100 years Tel-Aviv has become a thriving city, one of the most exiting in the world. The Arabs should have welcome it and its people. After all, they claim to be known as "hospitable". Well, not when it comes to Jews... a form of racism to the best of my understanding of this behavior, and the Fondas of the world join this racism...
Gil   (09.10.09)
17. #7, Obviously you know nothing about Hanoi Jane
"Now it seems the green light has been flashed for them to bark ... ! " Jane Fonda has always barked, and even bit. While American GI's were dying in Vietnam, Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam to lick the boots of the North Vietnamese leaders and denounce America. Now that she has found a president to stab America in the back for her, she can turn her attentions to blasting Israel.

18. fonda and walker are a couple of tired old antisemites
who cares what they think anyway.
(09.11.09)
19. adaraba
I am not a Tel Avivite, and I am mostly media/culture free, but must say that we are not just a propoganda machine. We just are. The Palestinian narrative is just a propoganda machine and no more.
i ,   jerusalem   (09.11.09)
20. Walker's hated Israel for decades. Also men. And puppies.
Alice Walker has hated Israel for decades, just check her (lousy) book "Temple of My Familiar". In which she also declares her hatred for all men (especially black men), excepting those who simply lie in bed passively. And dogs (only cats are okay). Interested in reading more? Her (estranged) daughter wrote a whole book about it.
Susan   (09.12.09)
21. They can both kiss my ass...
Jane Fonda has always been on the wrong side of history. What will she do? Apologize to the Jews in 20 years after she has caused untold harm as she did to the Vietnam Vets? She's a pig of the first degree...
truth   (09.13.09)
22. Boycot of the Toronto film Feztiva
Honestly, who cares All those Palestinians who are boycoting the TIFF should not be there in the first place to learn and do something of themselves The TIFF is taken place and they are the losers. Enough is enough !
