As Israel learned during its creation, the nations of the world can establish you as a state but it takes boots on the ground to establish borders. If the PA declares statehood but are unable to enforce sovereignty over its state the Palestinian state will only be as large as Israel allows it to be. As such, there is no better option for Israel than for there to be established a Palestinian state without Israeli concessions as to the borders. The state will not include any Israeli settlement blocks or Jerusalem unless the PA can acquire those lands by force. Should the new PA state choose to open a war with Israel for land it should be prepared to lose such a war and the consequences of a lost war. In sum, as a right-leaning Israeli Jew, I think the annuncement of a PA state by the UN will be the best option for Israel (other than transfer).

It is time to understand that a “Palestinian state” is not the solution. The Arabs should think about emigrating, discretely, to other Arab countries before it is too late, (most of these countries are not very populated and can easily integrate them). Such solution would be one that would be bought and paid for from the annual billions of dollars in welfare the world now throws at Palestinians, in favor of Palestinians and those nations prepared to absorb them as citizens. Sarah come on now. You are no expert on international law or the Hague conventions. You have yet to provide the exact words in any convention that give Israel the right to ;hang on to the land that they have occupied since 1967. And, for your edification, dear Sarah, have you forgotten that Ariel Sharon referred to the West Bank and Gaza as "occupied." I guess he knew, better than you, that the Hague Conventions did not say that Israel could keep the land.
