Army says it fired at Gaza doctor's home, killing three daughters, after troops were targeted by sniper fire; meanwhile, IDF says that shell hit fuel tank near UNWRA compound Thursday, but facility itself was not targeted
Not so innocent? The daughters of a Gaza doctor were killed by the IDF after sniper fire from the family's home targeted Israeli soldiers, the army said Saturday.
Earlier Saturday, Dr. Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish convened a press conference at Sheba medical center near Tel Aviv, where he works, and demanded to know why the army targeted his home.

"Why they did kill them? Give me a reason," the doctor, who lost three of his daughters in the incident, said. "That's what I want. I want the reason. These Israeli soldiers, the IDF, they know my house."
Following an inquiry into the incident, the IDF announced that soldiers fired shells at the doctor's home in response to sniper fire.
Meanwhile, the army also said that it did not fire at an UNWRA facility Thursday, despite widely circulated reports to that effect. An inquiry into the incident showed that the army fired back at Palestinian gunmen, hitting a nearby fuel tank. However, the facility itself was not targeted, the IDF said.
Back on Thursday, the IDF said that Palestinians fired anti-tank rockets from the vicinity of the UNWRA facility before the army responded. A spokesman for the organization told Ynet Thursday that three shells hit the UNWRA compound, and that 700 people at the site were in danger as result of the ensuing fire.
