31. #25 - you're firing 3-stage rockets at tanks?
William ,   Israel   (02.03.11)
What the hell are you rambling about? "we believe it when we see it" - problem is, when you see it, you shit your pants and run to the UN for protection.

considering israel just put this on its merkava tanks a couple of years ago, tested it and waited to try it during rpg battle, i would say israel did great here. for all those that belittle this acheivement, please tell your nasrallahs and mahmuudis that the planned battle plans have to now be revised....there is a new boy on the field. a merkava that is immune to rpg's... and as the article states, not only rpg, but greter missiles with more distance. do you hear it, boys??? time to revise plans. israel is always ahead of you arabs and iranian mullas because they are simply much much smarter.

this new armored merkava, from what i understand from jane magazine, has 5 small and larger anti rpg missiles attached to the tank. since this protective covering covers the entire tank, every inch of the tank would sense an rpg no matter the direction it comes from towards the tank. also, missiles are directed by radar and sensory heat equipment and therefore can engage 4 simultaneous rpg's at the very same time from multiple directions. as to mines, you'll notice while you read the daily news that israeli border patrol are extremely active near border fences and walls where palestinian terrorist, opps! "gravel collectors" constantly get hit by the idf while placing their mines or bombs at the border fence. israel has its eyes everywhere and the border cameras are supervised 24/7 by security. additionally, do not underestimate the gunmenship skills of the israeli tank commandos. compared to the entire usa tank division, the idf tank armor unit is the best in the world simply by the chance to have been practicing all these years and never letting loose. the idf, in addition to its military intelligence as well as military cut edge innovation cannot ever be compared to any arab army which are old soviet base of the past....mostly outdated...the same goes for iranian army, navy, airforce zero capability and old age rustic soviet era machinary troubled by lack of parts and trained personell to fix anything on the ground or in flight. so, never underestimate the jews, habibi. i know israelis. believe me, when they need to go after you they do and they win. hameed aboughaze, iranian

why are you in a tizzy? if the system works, then your argument is invalid. if the system doesn't work, then tanks will be damaged. but, you don't know, at this point, what the system's capabilities are. i dare you to grab an rpg-30 and test it out. just don't go crying to the UN when you get spanked.
38. Joins a long line of Israeli firsts

such as the first naval missile battle, the invention and operational deployment of UAVs and more.

Stephen in New York   (02.03.11)
The point of this article is that this is the very first of est of Trophy in combat and the first in history of an APS system. Incidentally, the very same post as #26, Turkman, now appears at haartez.com under the name of Nataiie Durson.

BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.03.11)
It will wake you up to the fact that it's a “multiple response system”, using buckshot style ammunition It can fire a number of shots in succession, being quite capable of knocking out more than one missile at a time
45. #30 Teflon muslim
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.03.11)
The likelihood of two shots hitting in the exact same spot is virtually impossible, I would say the odds are greater than hitting the Lottery The fact is that it's a “multiple response system”, using buckshot style ammunition It can fire a number of shots in succession, being quite capable of knocking out more than one missile at a time Three stage missile, 3 responses to deal with it I believe the system can fire six shots in succession, before having to reload Don't forget that the tanks main weaponry will also be giving a response In the event it's not a tank, the heaviest weapon available will be put into use In conjunction with the new electronic response system Nobody uses single shot weapons anymore, they’re all repeaters nowadays

Not for you to flap your mouth about the quality & ability of US tank forces. Our armor is more than a match for any army on the planet, and when unleashed, they play to win, as surviving Iraqi tank troops can attest, when we went through them like a knife through butter in prior campaigns.

Oh don't you worry, either. Even if everyone else in the world has abandoned Israel, we have not forgotten you. We will excise the cancer that is Zionism and restore Judaism to you.
52. they deploy the wrong type against an old RPG
palidov ,   kiev   (02.03.11)
On 6 December 2010 a Kornet launched from the Gaza strip penetrated the armour of a Merkava Mark III tank on the Israeli side of the border, but it caused no injuries in this instance. Following this incident, the IDF decided to deploy near the Gaza strip Merkava tanks fitted with the anti-missile defense system Trophy active protection system. It yet have to take hit from improved version Kornet

54. Great news. Now turn your attention to Latakia
Gobbo   (02.03.11)
Latakia is the Syrian port where Iran now intends to build up its naval forces, with Russian help. A Syrian official declared this new naval base "will cripple Israel". Apparently, Ehud Barak has been playing down the importance of Iran's Mediterranean excursions. Israelis, please make sure you are fully prepared for this growing threat. Will you allow Iran to project its power so close to your shores?

57. for now it is the best we can ask
amir ,   israel   (02.03.11)
The system makes obsolete 100% of the rockets currently found in gaza and lebanon (and of course their suppliers syria and iran), including RPG29 which were recently used during the second lebanon war. newer rockets that are declared to be able to beat such systems (what still needs to be prooved) such as RPG30, are not widespread yet, not even in the russian army.such rockets, even if found effective, will take time to get the battelfield and even then only in very small quantities, since russia will face harsh criticism when trying to sell them to syria, which its first priority will be to equip its own army. so in the next several years hizbulla and of course hamas's anti tank capabilities will reduce significantly. this opposed to the thousentd of anti tank weapons that are now in their possession, which include: ra'ed(iranian sager), ra'ed T (iranian tow) ,nader (iranian RPG7), and russian metis, kornet and RPG29. still, these weapons can be used as a good anti-infentry weapon in urban evnironment, and the IDF will have to be able to deal with the various uses hizbulla might find to the huge anti tank weapons in its possession.
