The US Congress is working to redirect part of its aid to Egypt towards the advancement of democracy, human rights, and economic reform.
This is the fist time that Washington has decided to exercise control over aid money to Egypt, which will receive $1.3 billion in military aid, and $495 million for civilian projects from the US in 2006.
