נושא : questions regarding male factor
Shalom Dr. R,
Ironically I sat next to you on the plane when you came back from Toronto a few years ago, and we spent time talking about your research regarding ICSI - I had no idea back then we'd be facing these problems now.
Anyway, my husband is defined as 'severe male factor' case, due to undescended testis corrected in early teens age. We have underwent 3 IVF+ICSI during the last year, two of which ended up with chemical pregnancies. Each time many eggs were retreived, and a decent percentage was fertilized (60-70%). Most embies were not of best quality, but we had one or two 8/1/1's .
We have heard about Prof. Bartoov's test in Bar-Ilan, and went for it in January when we last visited in Israel (between first and second cycle). His analysis of a random sample of 100 cells found 0 normal spermatozoa, but 1 cell with normal nucleus. Tests of Y chromosomal microdeletion, as well as karyotype and hormonal studies are normal.
My questions are as follows:
1. Given Bartoov's - are we fighting windmills, or is there a reasonable chance, considering we had two chemical preg's?
2. Can Acupuncture/traditional Chinese med. be of any help here, or is it a total waste of time/money?
3. Is there any way I could privately email you another question (feel uncomfortable to do so on a public bulletin board)?
Thanks, and Shanah Tova!
