JERUSALEM - Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit is set to meet with Israeli leaders on Sunday, as part of a series of trust-building measures and to strengthen Egypt's involvement in the implementation of the upcoming pullout plan.
Gheit is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom and Vice Premier Shimon Peres.
During the meeting Foreign Ministry officials will examine the existing areas of cooperation between the two nations and the possibility of their expansion.
Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman visited Israel on Wednesday and promised Sharon Egypt would do everything to ensure the disengagement pass quietly.
Ben-Eliezer to travel to Egypt
In addition, Egyptian Chamber of Commerce Galal Zorba is set to arrive in Tel Aviv on Sunday for a convention dedicated to strengthening economic ties between Israel and Egypt. Several Israeli and Egyptian financial entrepreneurs and agriculture experts are to participate in the conference.
National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer is scheduled to travel to Egypt at the end of the month to sign a gas-trade agreement. The Egyptian government postponed the signing of this agreement for months, claiming the hostile situation between the two nations did not allow for business cooperation.
During his visit Ben-Eliezer will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Suleiman.
