Hebron students develop solar car

Three Palestine Polytechnic University students present West Bank's first eco-friendly car

Three Hebron students introduced eco-friendly motor technology over the weekend, in the form an electric car.

ย

The three, who attend the Palestine Polytechnic University in the West Bank city, said that the project was in the works for three months, and with virtually no funds.

ย

The car can be charges by using a regular household electrical outlet, but when in use, it feeds off solar panels.

ย

The one-seat car has a modest engine of only 2HP and can come up to 30km/h โ€“ which the students say should be more than enough to drive in normal urban conditions.

ย

The car is fitted with 12 batteries that are meant to last for five hours.

ย

According to West Bank media, the university hopes that the successful project will attract investors that will facilitate the car's mass production.
