Several prominent artists form around the world have decided to take part in the international Art Biennale, which opened in Ramat Gan Friday.
The biennale's main showcase is an exhibition by Israeli artist Eitan Buganim. Guest artists were asked to create a piece reflecting the status of the Israeli art scene in relation to other world biennales, Art TLV, the Documenta Art Exhibition in Kassel, Germany, and various art fairs.
The Ramat Gan exhibition wishes to take an in depth look at the concept of art proprietary: In today's reality, who does the art truly belong to? The artist? The collector? The viewer? The curator?

"This biennale is certainly meant to criticize art fairs and art itself, for lending itself so easily to the moods of the market," said Buganim.
"The works all have a political aspect to them, in one way or another," he added. "And all of the works have some sort of a personal, sometimes biographical aspect, and so they all have, as they say, the stuff of life."
