NIS 90,000 a month for TA apartment

Jewish American businessman rents luxurious flat above Herbert Samuel promenade, to pay total of pay a total of NIS 3.24 million over three years

Rent prices in Tel Aviv continue to break records: An apartment on the 20th floor of the "Pninat Hayam" tower on the Herbert Samuel promenade has been rented out to a Jewish American billionaire for a monthly fee of NIS 90,000 (about $23,500).

About a year ago, the most expensive apartment in Israel was sold to Russian oligarch Valery Kogan for NIS 110 million ($29 million). This week, an apartment nearby was rented out for an astronomic price, turning the Herbert Samuel promenade into the most expensive place in Israel.

The apartment, which isn't even the building's penthouse, was rented by the Rozio Real Estate agency to a Jewish businessman who visits Israel for business purposes for a few days once or twice a month. The man used to stay at the David Intercontinental Hotel, but recently began searching for a luxurious apartment near the sea.

The businessman, who asked to remain anonymous, said he had seen a number of assets, but chose the one with the best view and short distance to the Tel Aviv beach.

"I enjoy running on the beach in the morning and watching the amazing sunsets from the balcony. I did not find anything similar in the other assets offered to me," he said.

What does the apartment include to justify the price? According to real estate agent Assaf Rozio, "It's a rare asset, a huge luxury apartment measuring 350 square meters (3,767 square feet) in size with a 250-square meter (2,690 square feet) apartment, which spreads over an entire floor and is located on the front line to the sea.

"The huge balcony has a giant stylish Jacuzzi suitable for 12 people, a barbecue corner, a kitchenette and a shower. The furnished apartment has a luxurious kitchen measuring 70 square meters (753 square feet) in size, luxurious furniture from Italy, white leather sofas of the best designers, five 52-inch plasma TVs, a dining room for 16 people, a home entertainment system and satin sheets imported from abroad."

The tenancy contract was signed for a period of three years, and the price includes maintenance fees and property tax. A quick calculation shows that in the next three years, the new tenant is expected to pay a total of NIS 3.24 million ($850,000).

"With this price he could only have afforded a four-room apartment on a low floor in one of the city's towers," said a local real estate agent, praising the tenant for the "bargain".
