IDF commander avoids clashes with settlers

Southern Commander Dan Harel avoided a confrontation with settlers on Thursday when his convoy bypassed a protest they held on a Gaza road. Similar clashes have ensued since Israel removed ultranationalists from a Gaza hotel and sealed off the territory earlier to stop rightists from fortifying it ahead of Israel's pullout. (Ronny Sofer)
