תחרות הצילום הבינלאומית "צלם הים של 2021" (Ocean photographer of the year 2021) הכריזה על זוכיה. בהמשך הכתבה - תמונות נוספות מהתחרות.
אלפי תמונות הוגשו לתחרות, ושבעה שופטים בחרו את התמונות הזוכות, שחולקו לשבע קטגוריות, ביניהן: שימור טבע, צלמים צעירים, סדרת תמונות ועוד.
לפי מארגני התחרות, מטרתה היא "להאיר על יופי הים ועל האיומים עמם הוא מתמודד". התחרות מופקת על ידי מגזין הבריטי Oceanographic Magazine, ובתמיכת ארגון שימור הטבע SeaLegacy.

על כן, תמונות זוכות בתחרות מציגות חיי ים, נוף ימי וההשפעות השליליות של האדם על הים. בין התמונות שזכו לציון לשבח ולמקומות ראשונים בקטגוריות השונות: סוסון ים ש"מחזיק" מסכה, דג עם סיגריה בפיו, ושחף שהסתבך בחוט דיג.
התמונה שזכתה במקום הראשון הכללי היא של צב ים המוקף בדגים. היא צולמה בשונית נינגלו שבמערב אוסטרליה על הצלמת אימי ג'אן (Aimee Jan). על התמונה, אמרה הצלמת: "שחיתי עם שנורקל ולפתע אחד העמיתים שלי אמר לי שיש צב כ-10 מטרים מתחתינו. כאשר צללתי למטה כדי להסתכל, הדגים הופרדו מהצב באופן מושלם".
